The selected students will be funded and enrolled into the Ph.D. programme offered by IIT (BHU) Varanasi. Potential candidates with a strong analytical background and an outstanding M.Tech degree in Transportation Engineering or M.Plan degree in Planning or a related field are encouraged to apply. Undergraduate Projects - The undergraduate students of Civil Engineering at IIT(BHU) are regularly given opportunities to be a part of SCULPT{Lab} through their UG Projects (3rd Year)/Exploratory Projects (2nd Year). Students from other departments (e.g., Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, and Mechanical) are encouraged to get in touch with us, if they are interested in taking up challenging projects in the area of transportation engineering.
Internship Positions - Summer (June-July) or Winter Internship (December-January) programme is open for students from other institutions in India or Abroad. If you are interested, please email us your expression of interest in advance. B.Tech or B.Plan students are encouraged, in particular, to apply during their 2nd or 3rd year itself.

In January 2025, PI received funding from Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) for being part of the consortium leading a project on Community-based Electric Bikesharing
In December 2024, PI received a project from Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of Uttar Pradesh regarding the Mahakumbh 2025 - "Research and engineering challenges related to arrangements for multimodal transportation, pedestrian access, and traffic management during the Mahakumbh Mela to evaluate their efficacy and identify areas of improvement"
In April 2024, PI received study visit grant from Volvo Research and Education Foundation (VREF) for a study on Urban commercial freight demand and parking
In December 2023, PI received the "Best Thesis Award in Transportation Planning" by Transportation Research Group (TRG) during CTRG-2023 Surat
In March 2023, PI received funding from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for developing a freight transportation planning handbook for National and State Highways in India
In July 2022, PI received funding from the US-India Collaborative Research Programme Funded by I-DAPT Technology Innovation Hub of DST and National Science Foundation (NSF)
In August 2021, PI joined IIT (BHU) as an Assistant Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering
In May 2020, PI received the “Young Leader in Sustainable Transport” award from SLOCAT (Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport) and VREF (Volvo Research and Education Foundations)
